Westham Parish Council joins the country in mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth II

It is with profound sadness that we have learnt of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

The next eleven days will be an important time for us and our communities to come together and pay our respects to the Queen and the Council wanted to relay some important information to be aware of throughout the mourning period:

The Parish Council is unable to have a book of condolence as the Parish Office is part of Stone Cross School. Therefore the following details may help:

·         A book of condolence will be available in the reception area of Wealden District Council  for people wishing to send their condolences and it will be available between 9.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday until the day after the funeral.  On Saturday10 September, the book of condolence will also be open and available between 10.00am and 4.00pm.

·         For those of you wishing to lay flowers, there is a dedicated area to do so and this will be at the War memorial on Hailsham High Street but please do note we have been advised that all flowers must be unwrapped.

·         Once the Proclamation of the new Sovereign has been read in London and at County level, The WDC Chairman will read the Proclamation at District level. Please see the Wealden District Council  website for details.
